Job Overview

The Adolescent Care Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting the case management and healthcare teams. This position involves providing daily care, guidance, and supervision to adolescents residing in a residential treatment facility. The specialist will help oversee individual treatment plans and manage the daily functions of the residential unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate transportation for clients to various appointments, including medical, legal, and social services.
  • Assist with intake and discharge transportation, including inter-state travel for reunification with sponsors.
  • Support the case management team with administrative tasks as required.
  • Supervise youth as necessary and fulfill all mandated activities related to youth treatment.
  • Establish and maintain professional boundaries while supervising adolescents.
  • Acquire knowledge of trauma-informed care and participate in ongoing training in the Sanctuary Model of Care.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Direct Care Responsibilities:

  • Foster a therapeutic environment characterized by warmth, empathy, and respect.
  • Assist in the creation, execution, and assessment of client treatment programs; support all activities, including therapy, vocational training, and educational programs.
  • Monitor and observe client behaviors, holding residents accountable through established interventions. Act as a teacher, supporter, and role model in daily interactions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and apply non-violent crisis intervention techniques to manage residents at risk of self-harm or harm to others, including completing necessary documentation.
  • Serve as a stable and positive role model for residents, balancing authority with a supportive relationship.
  • Respect the diverse backgrounds of individuals and understand their needs and feelings; exhibit patience and nurturing qualities.
  • Oversee the general health and wellness of clients, assisting with meals, physical activities, personal hygiene, and medical care; provide first aid or CPR as needed.
  • Administer medications as prescribed.
  • Transport residents to scheduled appointments and activities as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of all activities related to the management of the residential program.
  • Support the upkeep of a clean and orderly environment; engage residents in completing assigned household tasks.
  • Report any damage to personal or physical property to the appropriate personnel following established procedures.
  • Participate in supervision and team meetings to share ideas, provide feedback, and contribute to departmental planning.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance standards related to job functions.
  • Uphold confidentiality and protect the rights of residents and their families in accordance with agency policies.
  • Other duties as coordinated with supervisory staff.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English is required; Spanish proficiency is preferred.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory; additional education or certification in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with adolescents with emotional or behavioral challenges is advantageous.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is essential.
  • Agreement with the Statement of Faith of Wedgwood Christian Services and alignment with the agency's mission and objectives.
  • Strong organizational skills are necessary.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities are required.
  • Capability to deliver compassionate customer service is essential.
  • Ability to work independently with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Reliability in meeting time-sensitive deadlines and completing tasks is crucial.
  • Proficient computer and typing skills are necessary for job functions.
  • Must maintain a reliable vehicle with adequate insurance coverage.
  • Pass a criminal background check, including child protection agency registries.
  • Documentation of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases or willingness to receive vaccinations or seek exemptions.

Work Schedule: Monday to Thursday, with shifts on alternating weekends.
