Position Overview: The RN Operating Room Baylor role involves working 24-hour weekends (2 x 12-hour shifts) while being compensated for 36 hours of work, along with a weekend shift differential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare for surgical procedures by assessing patients and reviewing their medical history, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete.
- Develop and implement patient care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, adjusting as needed based on patient progress.
- Ensure the operating room is adequately equipped and set up for surgical procedures, troubleshooting any equipment issues as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of surgical procedures and physician orders.
- Adhere to aseptic techniques and safety protocols throughout all surgical procedures.
- Assist in maintaining accurate surgeon preference cards and ensure efficient turnover between cases.
- Participate in the training and orientation of new surgical staff and students as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Experience: At least one year of operating room experience in an acute care setting is required; experience in a Level 1 trauma OR is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications: Current RN license in the state of practice, BLS certification, and ACLS certification are required.
Work Schedule: 24 hours per week with weekend differential; no on-call requirement.
