Operating Room Nurse

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Operating Room Nurse to join our team at Abrazo West Campus. As a key member of our perioperative team, you will be responsible for circulating in the operating room and assisting physicians with advanced tasks or equipment during surgical procedures.
Responsibilities- Prepare for surgical procedures by completing a thorough assessment of the patient and reviewing patient chart, diagnostics, and labs. Report any abnormal results to physicians and other care providers.
- Formulate and initiate a plan of care based on patient-specific needs and medical plan of care. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to review and revise the plan of care as needed.
- Prepare for surgical procedures by ensuring all necessary supplies and instruments are available and the room is set up appropriately. Troubleshoot any malfunctioning equipment and make minor adjustments or call biomedical equipment staff as needed.
- Document surgical procedures in the patient record, ensuring that all documentation is timely and in accordance with policy.
- Demonstrate aseptic technique and universal precautions throughout the procedure, and participate in counting sharps, instruments, and sponges.
- Ensure that all surgeon preference cards are accurate and up-to-date.
- Assist with OR turnover between cases, and participate in stocking, replenishing supplies, and cleaning operating rooms.
- Participate in or lead the training and orientation of surgical staff and students as assigned.
- Follow safety procedures regarding medication labeling, specimen handling, sharp handling, time-out procedures, radiation and laser safety, and infection control.
- Current, valid RN license in the state of practice
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- Minimum one year of operating room experience in the acute care setting
- Preferred one year of experience in a Level 1 trauma OR setting
