The Role


We are excited to present an opportunity for a Senior Thermal Systems Engineer to become a vital part of our Cycle & Systems Analysis team.

The selected candidate will hold expert-level responsibilities for the design, development, and troubleshooting of internal cooling systems for gas turbines and their related components.

Key responsibilities will include offering primary system design analysis and optimization strategies to support advanced design initiatives, research and development, certification and qualification processes, as well as production for both military and commercial projects.

The Senior Thermal Systems Engineer will collaborate closely with various teams, including project management, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and turbomachinery aerodynamics and structural teams, to gather and disseminate essential design data and insights, ensuring the creation of robust and efficient cooling system designs.


Additional Responsibilities:
  • Conducting investigations into failures and resolving discrepancies.
  • Providing innovative solutions and recommendations for product enhancements.
  • Supporting thermal, structural, and life prediction analyses.
  • Utilizing flow network solver tools and methodologies for system design and failure analysis.
  • Developing testing protocols and instrumentation requirements for thermal survey assessments.
  • Performing bearing thrust load evaluations.
  • Generating precise and comprehensive technical evaluations and reports.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Expertise in heat transfer and fluid mechanics principles.
  • Strong familiarity with Flownex flow network solver simulation environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience with conjugate heat transfer methods is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is advantageous.
  • Understanding of gas turbine or other heat engine systems.
  • General awareness of product life management processes.
  • Familiarity with FAA certification and U.S. military qualification standards is a plus.
  • Willingness to be on-call during off-hours to address production issues as necessary.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Security Clearance

This position may require the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance. Candidates selected may undergo a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information.
