Heidelberg Materials is seeking a skilled Mobile Equipment Mechanic to join our team at our Thornton, Illinois facility.
Job SummaryWe are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Mobile Equipment Mechanic to perform repairs and maintenance on our heavy equipment fleet. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of diesel and gasoline engine repairs, as well as experience with power train component repairs, hydraulic system repairs, and electrical system repairs.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, and with company policies and procedures.
- Repair and maintenance functions include:
- Performing diesel and gasoline engine repairs.
- Diagnosing and performing power train component repairs.
- Troubleshooting and performing hydraulic system repairs.
- Repairing suspension and steering systems.
- Troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems.
- Performing specialized component repairs, such as hydraulic and mechanical drives.
- Making minor repairs, including welding and cutting.
- Performing and tracking Scheduled Maintenance in accordance with Hanson's PM Program.
- Performing road calls in a safe, fast, and professional manner when necessary.
- Maintaining good housekeeping and keeping company records and completing work orders on equipment.
- Performing other duties and assignments as required.
- Prefer high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Must have a minimum of one year of experience repairing heavy equipment or vocational training.
- NYS Heavy Equipment Inspector's License or ability to obtain.
- Must be able to write legibly to complete work orders and other required paperwork.
- Must be able to read and comprehend maintenance manuals.
- Must have basic hand and air tools required to repair heavy-duty trucks.
The Mobile Equipment Mechanic will work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on safety and quality. The successful candidate will be able to work extended periods of time in the same position, perform duties in all climates, and tolerate heights. The candidate must also be able to lift and carry up to [weight] pounds and work in confined spaces.
