Key Responsibilities

  • Execute configuration, calibration, and verification of control systems to ensure compliance with operational sequences.
  • Verify that all field-installed devices are correctly addressed, communicating, and functioning as intended.
  • Conduct thorough point-to-point verification on controllers.
  • Complete all necessary documentation promptly, including controller verification forms, work orders, and change orders.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of job conditions.
  • Deliver as-built drawings and support the project close-out process while maintaining professionalism.
  • Assist in training and commissioning efforts to ensure a seamless system handover.
  • Maintain clear communication with team members, including daily log creation.
  • Support other departments and trades as needed (installing controls, minor duct modifications, graphics, etc.).
  • Ensure proper maintenance of assigned company vehicle.
  • Care for all company-provided tools and resources.

Required Skills and Experience

  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, installation, and construction practices.
  • Proficient in programming and troubleshooting with Honeywell, Tridium, JCI FX, Carrier, and Trane control systems.
  • Strong command of the technical language associated with automation and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with local codes and regulations.
  • Possess a calm demeanor and sound judgment.
  • Exhibit strong organizational and planning abilities.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective problem-solving capabilities.
  • Understand and execute project completion effectively.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers and team members, ensuring excellent communication between the automation department and its clients.
  • Minimum of 1 year of technical schooling and 1+ years of DDC/BAS control system start-up, check-out, and service experience, or 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Configuration/programming and troubleshooting skills with Tridium, Honeywell, JCI FX, JCI PCT, Carrier, and Trane software.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  1. Candidates must be reasonably physically fit and capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. of tools, equipment, or materials on job sites, at vendors, or in warehouses.
  2. Ability to stand, bend, and kneel as necessary.
  3. Comfortable climbing ladders and working from scissor lifts at heights.
  4. Familiarity with the safe operation of required tools.
