The Paul M. Angell Family Foundation (PMAFF) is dedicated to enhancing society through the performing arts, ocean conservation, and the promotion of equitable, safe, and thriving communities. As PMAFF embarks on a transformative journey of growth and evolution, it is expanding its grantmaking initiatives and cultivating a dynamic team.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Chief Talent and Culture Officer (CTCO) is a newly established role that will report directly to the Managing Director and serve as a key member of the senior leadership team. This position is pivotal in guiding a talented team of engaged and well-prepared staff.
The CTCO will embody and advocate for the organization’s core values, delivering human resources leadership and programming that nurtures a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture at PMAFF.
This role will implement frameworks that empower all staff members to grow in their roles and learn from the communities they serve, including our grantee partners.
The CTCO will oversee all human resources functions, including but not limited to, position structuring, recruitment, hiring, retention, promotions, budgeting, compensation and benefits strategies, onboarding, orientation, exit protocols, employee relations, engagement, policy formulation, and performance management.
The CTCO collaborates with the leadership team to develop human resource solutions aimed at onboarding, supporting, and retaining staff, while also acting as a knowledgeable resource for staff members’ organizational and professional development aspirations, leveraging their strengths.
This individual will spearhead the internal diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) initiatives at PMAFF, ensuring that the organization lives up to its values while pursuing its mission.
This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid position.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Human Resources (45%)
Formulate and execute the strategic vision and approach for human resources within the organization; serve as the lead for key HR systems including position structuring, talent acquisition, onboarding, training, performance evaluation, benefits administration, employee communication, compliance, and post-employment processes.
Guide the organization in implementing processes, training, and principles related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, while addressing systemic racism and anti-oppressive frameworks.
Enhance expertise in HR applications utilized by PMAFF and provide leadership to optimize their effectiveness; recommend necessary changes and improvements.
Implement strategies to maximize talent development, organizational design, succession planning, learning strategies, performance management, and individual development programs.
Collaborate with senior leadership to assess individual, team, and organizational development needs, conducting or sourcing specific training, coaching, assessments, and workshops.
Design and execute equitable and inclusive recruitment and selection processes that enhance the growth and effectiveness of PMAFF staff.
Develop and implement comprehensive onboarding programs for new hires to ensure they are effective in their roles and gain a thorough understanding of PMAFF and the communities served.
Lead the future development of a more extensive HR department and personnel.
Perform additional duties as required.
Culture and Employee Engagement (20%)
In partnership with the Managing Director and senior leadership team, lead initiatives to gather and analyze staff feedback, creating actionable steps to enhance organizational culture.
Develop compelling initiatives and learning opportunities that allow all staff members to experience the benefits of inclusion for themselves, their colleagues, PMAFF, and the communities served.
Assist in organizing foundation-wide staff engagement and other events.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Availability during standard working hours; occasional evening and weekend work may be required with prior notice.

MINIMUM HIRING SPECIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience). SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification is advantageous but not mandatory.
8-10+ years of progressive experience in human resource management, with at least 5 years in a senior management role overseeing both strategic and operational HR functions.
Ability to articulate the strategic value of integrated human resource processes with strong business acumen, customer service orientation, and excellent diplomacy and influence skills.
Expertise in all facets of human resource management, including diversity, equity, inclusion, compensation, benefits, policies, employment law, talent management, employee relations, recruitment, and professional development initiatives.
Extensive experience in organizational development and change management, with the ability to lead, plan, manage, and implement change.
Strong employee relations experience; capable of coaching and educating staff on effectively addressing performance issues.
Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing impactful diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives.
Proven success in developing innovative human resources programs aligned with organizational goals and managing performance processes.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The position offers a competitive salary range, along with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, vision, and dental insurance, paid time off, and holidays.
The role will operate within a hybrid work environment, with alternating remote and on-site workdays, and may involve in-person obligations that increase over time.
