Job Summary

The Student Leader - Expanded Learning Programs is a dynamic role aimed at current high school students who demonstrate exemplary performance and attitude and are interested in supporting the school's academic program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Expanded Learning Program Systems and Procedures: Assist in ensuring all students are fully engaged in learning and help maintain a school-wide culture of high expectations that includes college preparation for all students.
  • Tutoring and Academic Support: Provide individualized support to students in the after-school program, focusing on intervention and acceleration for students below grade level.
  • Communication and Information Sharing: Help the Expanded Learning Program provide students and their families with regular and timely information on classroom activities and student progress.
  • Student Records and Data Management: Assist in maintaining accurate student records, including attendance, in accordance with Aspire procedures.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with other team members and outside service providers to address learning challenges and support student needs.
  • Program Development and Implementation: Assist in leading student activities within the Expanded Learning program setting, including arts-based programming, sports and athletics, STEAM/STEM programming, and other initiatives.
  • Role Modeling and Leadership: Serve as a role model for students by demonstrating Aspire's commitment to preparing and empowering scholars to build a fulfilling and liberated future for themselves and their communities.
Requirements
  • Competencies: Knowledge of child cognitive development and different learning styles, ability to implement Aspire Instructional Guidelines and Best Practices, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Education and Experience: High School Senior or 130 credits of high school, minimum 3.5 GPA, and experience working with students in an education setting preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to move about, stand, or sit for prolonged periods, and assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
