Job Summary:

The successful candidate will operate a crawler or rubber-tired machine mounted with an excavator bucket, performing tasks such as excavating ditches, structures, and mass excavations, laying pipe and precast concrete structures, loading trucks, and placing rock riprap. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy highway and civil construction, with a minimum of five years of experience as an Excavator Operator. Additionally, they will possess excellent communication skills, mathematical proficiency, and the ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy equipment, including crawler and rubber-tired machines, to perform excavation and construction tasks.
  • Signal truck drivers to position trucks for loading and unloading materials.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment, including oiling, greasing, and making necessary adjustments.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, reporting any unsafe activities to supervisors and Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.


Requirements:

  • Five (5) or more years of heavy highway and civil construction experience as an Excavator Operator.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Mathematical proficiency, including basic geometry, algebra, and mathematics.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment, with exposure to changing weather conditions.
