About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Sales Associate to join our team at the Navy Exchange. As a Sales Associate, you will be the face of our company, responsible for providing exceptional customer service and promoting our brand and image.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service
    • Engage with customers, ask questions, and listen to their needs to provide personalized service.
    • Direct customers to merchandise, inform them about upcoming events, promotions, and mobile offers.
    • Provide premier customer service, cooperate, and build positive, inclusive, and respectful relationships.
  • Organization
    • Maintain the store's appearance, ensuring a clean and welcoming environment for customers.
  • Sales
    • Cross-sell products, know the store layout, and make suggestions to customers based on their individual needs.
    • Upsell products, learn product features, and leverage company tools and technology to provide customers with product knowledge and specs.
    • Process cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, debit cards, and cash handling, including counting money and returning accurate amounts to customers.
    • Complete various forms of paperwork, reports, and reconciliation.
  • Inventory
    • Be the keeper of merchandise, complete all inventory processes, and ensure merchandise is properly checked in and accurately ticketed.
  • Dependability
    • Adhere to assigned work schedules, accurately complete follow-through on work assignments, and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications and Product Knowledge
    • Basic knowledge of products and merchandise.
  • Experience
    • Retail experience preferred but not required.
  • Communication Skills
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents, and effectively communicate with customers, peers, and management.
  • Mathematical Skills
    • Basic math functions, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Reasoning Ability
    • Ability to multi-task, be attentive to customers, and remain flexible to the needs of the business.
    • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Involves lifting at least 25 lbs. and up to 50lbs in some departments. Work typically performed indoors but may be assigned outdoors depending upon location.

Work Hours

Available to work a variety of hours, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
