Duties and Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:
  • Coordinate daily accounting work and entries related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll in conjunction with the finance associates.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for general ledger accounts including bank reconciliations.
  • Facilitate the month-end close schedule ensuring monthly entries and accruals are complete and the books are closed on a timely basis.
  • Produce monthly financial reporting for the leadership team and board members.
  • Assist with the annual budget process.
  • Maintain fixed asset ledger and depreciation schedules.
  • Coordinate annual financial audit and tax return preparation with partners of the organization.
  • Investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in the financial management of the organization by monitoring expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Performing other accounting duties as required or assigned.
Requirements:
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  1. Solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and strong financial analysis skills.
  2. Strong Excel skills, detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work with little to no supervision and perform under pressure
  3. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  4. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff within the organization and external stakeholders.
  5. In the case of a recovering person, he/she must have successfully maintained a two (2) year period of abstinence from alcohol and other drugs.
  6. Have or ability to obtain and maintain a State of New Mexico Criminal Records Clearance
  7. Must be over 21 years of age
Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting required. CPA preferred but not required.
  2. 3+ years of accounting experience in day-to-day accounting operations.
  3. Experience using QuickBooks online or similar accounting software.
  4. Experience in automated accounting systems and processes.
  5. Healthcare and/or nonprofit experience is highly preferred.
