Job Title: Learning Disabilities Specialist

We are seeking a highly qualified Learning Disabilities Specialist to join our team at Canyons School District. As a Learning Disabilities Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting students with learning disabilities and providing accommodations to ensure their academic success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and evaluate students with learning disabilities to determine eligibility for accommodations
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to support students with learning disabilities
  • Provide accommodations and support services to students with learning disabilities
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to ensure students receive comprehensive support
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices and research in learning disabilities and accommodations
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in learning disabilities, special education, education, psychology, speech language pathology, communication disorders, educational or school psychology, counseling, or rehabilitation counseling
  • 15 semester units of upper division or graduate study in the area of Learning Disabilities
  • 2 years of full-time experience or equivalent in counseling or guidance for students with disabilities or counseling and/or guidance in industry, government, public agencies, military or private social welfare organizations
  • Experience in conducting learning disability evaluations with adults in community college following the LDESM and/or in administering and interpreting the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale IV (WAIS IV), the Woodcock Johnson IV Tests of Achievement (and Cognition) and other test instruments used in the Learning Disabilities Eligibility & Services Model
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in teaching online courses with College of the Canyons or another institution
  • Proficiency with a variety of computer applications used by Learning Disability specialists
  • Working knowledge of Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, and other Federal and State legislation affecting the provision of disability services
