The United Schools Network (USN) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities in Columbus, Ohio. Since the inception of its first school in 2008, USN has collaborated with exceptional leaders to establish three additional schools over the past decade. Each USN institution is an open enrollment, public charter school committed to bridging the opportunity gap in Columbus. USN currently operates two high-performing elementary schools (K-5) and two high-performing middle schools (6-8), serving over 800 students. We are dedicated to providing a rigorous academic experience within a joyful learning environment, ensuring that students of all levels thrive and succeed through intentional support and continuous improvement.

Position Overview

The role of the Educational Support Specialist (ESS) offers talented educators the chance to foster the academic and social-emotional development of students within a school environment. ESS professionals assist teachers with classroom activities and encourage positive student behaviors in both academic and extracurricular settings. They support lessons delivered by teachers to individual students and groups, adhering to instructional plans set forth by educators and school leadership. Additionally, ESS professionals are often called upon to aid in the general operations of the school, undertake clerical tasks such as grading and copying, and provide supervision throughout the school day.

Qualifications:

  • Possesses a high school diploma or Associate's degree (preferred) and can obtain an Educational Aide permit.
  • Prior experience in urban schools and/or communities is preferred.

  • Dedicated to writing, refining, and internalizing curriculum, lessons, and assessments.

Terms of Employment:
  • This is a full-time position.
  • Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, with some job-related tasks expected outside of these hours.
  • Salary: The starting salary for a new Educational Support Specialist is $30,000, with variations based on professional experience and education level.
