Position Summary

The Senior Accounting Specialist is responsible for creating and processing journal entries, reconciling daily cash transactions, and maintaining accurate financial records within the Accounting department. This role involves adhering to generally accepted accounting principles while performing all tasks. The Senior Accounting Specialist will input cash receipts, statistical data, and journal entries into the financial management system. Additionally, this position serves as a backup for Accounts Payable and Payroll functions as needed. The primary stakeholders for this role include external vendors and internal departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Exhibit the knowledge and skills necessary to independently deliver services tailored to client needs.
  • Utilize departmental guidelines to effectively communicate with external contacts, colleagues, and other departments both in person and via phone.
  • Apply current generally accepted accounting principles appropriately in practice.
  • Demonstrate proficient computer skills for all accounting-related tasks.
  • Ensure accuracy and efficiency when entering cash receipts, statistics, and journal entries.
  • Assist leadership with Departmental Responsibility Reports as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Support audit processes as requested by management.
  • Participate in ongoing education and safety training.
  • Operate all equipment safely in accordance with departmental policies and quality control standards.
  • Employ safety practices to ensure precision in all tasks.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to stay updated on accounting principles.
  • Actively contribute to a chosen Action Team.
  • Adhere to infection control guidelines and practice proper hygiene.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required.
  • Experience with data entry is essential.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet software, particularly Excel, is necessary.
