Staff Accountant

About the Role:
The Staff Accountant plays a vital role in the Accounting department, responsible for creating and keying journal entries, reconciling and maintaining records of daily cash receipts, and compiling all statistics. As a member of the team, the Staff Accountant performs activities according to general accepted accounting principles. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting regulatory requirements and guidelines, as well as the ability to provide quality, efficient information on a timely basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to independently provide service to clients.
- Use departmental scripts and guidelines to effectively communicate with outside contacts, other departments, and coworkers.
- Apply current generally accepted accounting principles to practice.
- Demonstrate effective computer skills for all Accounting functions.
- Enter cash receipts, statistics, and journal entries with competency and efficiency.
- Provide assistance to Leadership as it relates to Departmental Responsibility Reports.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Assist with audits as requested by Controller or Internal Audit.
- Participate in education and/or safety requirements.
- Demonstrate safe operation of all equipment in compliance with departmental policy, safety, infection control, and quality control standards.
- Use safety behaviors to ensure accuracy.
- Participate in In-service education, updates, and conferences to remain current on all accounting principles.
- Actively participate in Action Teams.
- Use universal precautions and perform proper hand washing according to infection control guidelines.
- Four-year degree in Accounting is required.
- Three years of experience is required.
- Experience in computer data entry is required.
- Proficient in using spreadsheet applications, preferably in Excel.

- Weekends: No
