Loan Officer - Kenansville, NC

The right person for the job will be engaged in training and mentorship to understand and be able to independently originate and service loans, market financial services, and develop strong relationships with borrowers. As a relationship lender, you will serve present and prospective members with sound, productive agricultural credit according to Association policy, standards and procedures. You should be able to clearly communicate credit decisions to loan applicants in a prompt and considerate manner. You should enjoy the challenge of managing a loan portfolio in a work culture that welcomes and respects relationships, analytical skills, attention to detail, timely decision making, and candid conversations.

The Loan Officer will contribute to all business objectives including "Serve our Members and Local Communities". This position would report to the Branch Manager.

How you will impact AgCarolina Farm Credit:
  • Actively participate and seek lending relationships with existing customers and new customers
  • Market and sells all Association financially related services, including leasing, cross-selling Farm Credit Express, crop and life insurance and preferred stock
  • Coordinates applications for branch-referred new and existing customers
  • Interviews applicants, gathers, analyzes and reconciles complete, accurate credit and financial data using the five credit factors under the guidelines of differential analysis
  • Use delegated authority to approve loan structures, pricing, and conditions on loan transactions
  • Evaluate risk of loan transactions and assign probability of default and loss given default, ensure credit quality
  • Ensures loans are in compliance with Association's policies and procedures
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and neighboring departments
  • Remain active in community and industry events
  • Demonstrate a commitment to fair lending practices
  • Build and maintain a positive working relationship with others to enhance the Association's reputation in the market
What you need to succeed:
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting or agricultural economics
  • 1 to 3 years of related agriculture lending experience and/or proven performance
  • Strong analysis, judgement, and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Ability to be assertive and decisive in arriving at sound business decisions which serve the best interest of the Association and the borrower
  • Strong interpersonal, sales, and negotiating skills
  • Ability to handle high stress situations in a business and professional manner
  • Computer experience with intermediate skills in Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Ability to travel within AgCarolina Farm Credit's territory and outside the territory for training from time to time
  • Quick learner, strong problem solver, and adaptable
  • Work independently under general supervision
  • Foster and promote a team atmosphere
  • General knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office
  • Agricultural background preferred
  • Lending experience preferred
