Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and self-motivated Instructor to support the training needs of our Training School. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in the training and qualification of students requiring initial and refresher training at Quonset Point.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instruct multiple courses in a variety of topics, including pipefitting, fall protection, respirator, tank watch, and other general training courses.
  • Direct and assess hands-on training with mockups and related exercises.
  • Enforce safety rules and regulations in training and during deck plate audits.
  • Assess student performance and identify nonconformance to policies, procedures, and technical documents.
  • Support various course content reviews and related activities.
  • Conduct assessments as scheduled.
  • Meet with HR Business Partners regarding student performance as needed.
  • Consistently grade tests and quizzes to ensure knowledge capture and understanding of training topics.
  • Communicate with other Training shifts to advance work and communicate issues.
  • Support special training projects as required.
Requirements
  • Possess a High school diploma (minimum).
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of pipefitting experience.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of Electric Boat experience.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder and don a Safety Harness as required.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the facility to facilitate training as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience teaching.
  • Nuclear trade experience.
  • Associates Degree.

This position will be part of a team responsible for the training of students at QP. Qualified candidates will have a strong sense of commitment to Safety and Procedure Compliance, be a self-starter, the ability to work independently, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.

Candidates must also possess the ability to multi-task with a friendly, approachable customer service demeanor and a desire to teach.
