Job Title: Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Policy

InsideHigherEd is seeking a highly qualified Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Policy to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to work in a collaborative environment and contribute to the development of policies that support the faculty role at KU.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement policies that align with the university's vision and goals.
  • Collaborate with academic and governance units to develop and implement policies that support the faculty role at KU.
  • Support the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs on policy-related matters, including governance, labor relations, and Kansas Board of Regents policies.
  • Develop and coordinate internal processes for the review of unit-level policies that require Provost-level approval.
  • Ensure alignment between unit and university-level policies related to faculty.
  • Conduct research and assessment to inform university policies and procedures.
  • Represent the Office of Faculty Affairs on task forces and committees focused on policy initiatives.
  • Design and deliver educational sessions and materials on policy-relevant information, best practices, and policy updates for faculty and administrative leaders.
Faculty Recognition:
  • Chair and coordinate university-level faculty award committee processes administered by the Office of Faculty Affairs.
  • Coordinate recognition of faculty recipients of university-level faculty awards administered by the Office of Faculty Affairs with university-level offices.
  • Partner with the Director of Faculty Recognition and Awards and other units across campus to identify and grow faculty recognition opportunities.
  • Develop initiatives to recognize faculty excellence in research, teaching, and service and encourage faculty recognition across campus.
  • Represent the Office of Faculty Affairs in campus initiatives and committees focused on faculty recognition.
Requirements:
  • Tenured KU faculty member at KU Lawrence Campus.
  • A record of excellent teaching, scholarship, and service.
  • Demonstrated experience with policy development, implementation, and review.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging in a team-based environment.
  • Demonstrated experience formulating and managing committees and feedback processes.
  • Demonstrated capacity for leadership in a comprehensive university.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience with membership on committees responsible for developing and enacting policy.
  • Demonstrated experience with administration at department, School/College, or University level.
  • Demonstrated experience working with an awards committee and/or developing faculty recognition opportunities.
  • Demonstrated experience working with units across campus.
