Join our team at Raleigh Radiology Facilities, a premier outpatient imaging center.
The primary role of the registered technologist at Raleigh Radiology is to deliver mammographic imaging, diagnostic radiology procedures, and bone mineral density (BMD) assessments.
The technologist is tasked with coordinating patient care while adhering to established protocols, policies, and procedures.Key Responsibilities:
1) General Diagnostic Duties (50%)
a) Uphold professional care standards and maintain patient confidentiality.
b) Implement Raleigh Radiology's policies and procedures.
c) Conduct ordered procedures safely and efficiently, ensuring all required views are captured.
d) Evaluate patients' physical and psychosocial conditions; prioritize needs, set goals, and respond appropriately, including discharge education.
f) Administer contrast to assigned patients.
g) Prepare and monitor patients for IV sedation cases.
h) Assist with specific tests and procedures as necessary.
i) Participate in the economical use of supplies.
j) Ensure that equipment is well-maintained and available for use.
k) Collaborate with co-workers and physicians in providing patient care.
l) Foster open communication.
m) Utilize teaching opportunities with patients and their significant others.
n) Assist with or initiate emergency measures for sudden adverse occurrences in patients.
o) Maintain a clean, safe, and well-supplied environment for patients and staff.
p) Regularly cooperate with team members to accomplish job duties while assisting others in their tasks; serve as a role model by exhibiting courtesy, caring, helpfulness, and respect; conduct oneself in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, cooperative, and kind when interacting with team members and the public.
q) Perform additional duties as assigned.
2) Patient Care Activities (35%)
a) Gather initial patient history and assessments.
b) Complete and document history sheets.
c) Engage with patients to ensure a positive experience.
d)
Assessment may include:
i) Vital signs, lab value interpretation
ii) Recent complaint history
iii) Relevant medical history
iv) Complete medication list and dosages
v) Allergies
vi) Other pertinent assessment details
e) Continuously observe and assess patients throughout their visit.
i) Evaluate the patient's physical and psychological state and their responses to procedures.
ii) Accurately reflect the patient's condition.
iii) Conduct neuro checks and other assessments as instructed by supervising Radiologist or referring MD, notifying appropriate personnel in emergencies.
iv) Initiate emergency procedures, including CPR.
v) Document assessments and changes in condition in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
vi) Assess and document patient understanding of procedures and aftercare.
(1) Document teaching or aftercare instructions provided.
(2) Document when referring MD is contacted and provide written instructions to ensure follow-through.
(3) Follow up on patients who experience adverse reactions.
(4) Document relevant information on facility forms.
f) Provide accurate patient history to Radiologists for precise image interpretation.
i) Be concise and accurately reflect physiological facts regarding each patient.
ii) Relay reports immediately upon completion of procedures when instructed.
iii) Communicate directly with peers or other personnel to ensure continuous quality patient care.
3) Safety/Infection Control (10%)
a) Adhere to safety and infection control policies.
b) Report unsafe equipment and ensure follow-up.
c) Assess patients and plan for safety and infection control.
d) Ensure all necessary equipment for care is available and functional.
e) Report incidents and unusual occurrences as per department policies.
f) Utilize protective gear as required for each procedure.
4) Other Duties (5%)
a) Apply principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age-specific needs.
b) Maintain confidentiality of all facility-related employee and patient information.
c) Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education:
Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program and registered in mammography.
Experience:
Prior experience in a busy office or hospital setting is preferred.
Certification:
- CPR certification is required or must be obtained within the first 6 months of employment. Continuous certification in CPR is mandatory.
- Successful completion of the registry for Radiologic Technologists with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists must be achieved within 12 months of employment.
- Successful completion of the Mammography registry with ARRT must be achieved within 12 months of employment.

Desired Skills:
Basic patient care skills, including first-aid and CPR. Excellent technical skills in diagnostic and mammography are essential. BMD training can be provided. Ability to work independently, make sound decisions based on patient condition, and follow directions is required. Flexibility, dependability, and professionalism are essential.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Must be able to read printed material without strain and hear conversational voices, with or without aids; may be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. Frequent prolonged periods of standing and/or walking are required. Lifting, positioning, pushing, or transferring patients is necessary. Subject to rotating holidays or shifts.

The Registered Technologists operate with oversight from Radiologists and the Clinical Manager, although considerable independent work is expected.
