Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing project specifications, conducting research, and utilizing cost estimating software. This role requires close collaboration with project managers and engineers to ensure that all cost estimates align with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare cost estimates from plans, drawings, and documents from the conceptual stage to final design/construction documents.
  • Develop and prepare conceptual estimates using limited preliminary design documents and information.
  • Collect and maintain historical cost data to improve the accuracy of estimates.
  • Conduct value analysis, life cycle costing, constructability analysis, cost modeling, and alternatives analysis.
  • Assist project management staff with the management of project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Participate in and facilitate group meetings.
Requirements:
  • Proficiency with cost estimating software (HCSS Heavy Bid, RS Means CostWorks, Blue Book, and/or other software).
  • Knowledge of roadway, structure, and traffic engineering and vertical construction means, and methods.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal contracting requirements.
  • Understanding of Contract Documents, materials performance, environmental, legal, and safety responsibilities related to construction.
  • Understanding of CSI format and Uniformat II classification systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or other qualification.
  • 5-7 years in a Cost Estimating role.
  • BSc/BA in engineering, construction science or relevant field.
