Nurse Specialist

Job Summary:
Spectrum Healthcare Resources is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to provide high-quality patient care in a detention facility setting. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering direct care to patients, assessing and treating acute problems, and performing physical examinations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides direct care to patients within the scope of practice and performs functions in accordance with current accepted practice, licensure, certification, credentialing, and/or competencies.
- Performs sick call, assessing and treating acute problems using nursing protocols and referring patients to an advanced practice provider, physician, behavioral health provider, and/or dentist as appropriate.
- Administers medications as ordered, using various routes such as oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous, topical, ophthalmic, and enteral/parenteral.
- Performs prescreening and intake screening of patients newly arrived at the facility, using established intake tools for gathering subjective and objective data.
- Provides clinical supervision to Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel, as assigned.
Requirements:
- Current Virginia or Compact Nursing license
- Minimum one year of professional experience as a licensed registered nurse in a hospital, medical office, or residential setting
- Current, full, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the state in which the duty station is located, or a compact state that allows practice in the state in which the duty station is located
- Maintains BLS certification
- U.S. Citizen
