Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The role involves troubleshooting and maintaining electronic systems and components across various automated assembly lines. Responsibilities include programming and modifying software as necessary, with a strong emphasis on supporting preventive maintenance processes, which encompass lubrication, inspection, and general maintenance tasks. This position supports all production and physical plant equipment within the facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop or adjust computer programs for equipment as required.
  2. Execute all tasks in a safe and cooperative manner, promptly reporting any hazardous conditions or safety concerns to management.
  3. Initiate and conclude equipment operations in alignment with operational requirements and safety protocols.
  4. Conduct basic mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance tasks efficiently, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  5. Diagnose and repair issues following detailed procedures, determining necessary materials, replacement parts, and tools for effective repairs and maintenance.
  6. Set up, calibrate, and operate machinery; perform layout and bench work; inspect, disassemble, repair, rebuild, assemble, weld, install, and lubricate machinery throughout the manufacturing facility.
  7. Examine for defects, misalignment, wear, and insufficient lubrication, determining optimal repair processes with minimal disruption to production.
  8. Assist in maintaining building systems, including heating and cooling.
  9. Disassemble, relocate existing equipment, and install new machinery.
  10. Ensure safe disposal of all hazardous materials and supplies.
  11. Maintain tools and workspaces in a secure and organized manner.
  12. Keep daily work logs and update records for equipment and components.
  13. Adhere to preventative maintenance and lubrication schedules.
  14. Promote and practice good safety habits, including the use of personal protective equipment and ensuring safety features are operational.
  15. May provide training to others on maintenance tasks, including preventive maintenance.
  16. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Ability to read, interpret, and understand written or electronic information, including diagrams, schematics, blueprints, graphs, and charts, and input necessary information into a computer.

Required Equipment and Tools:

  • Measuring instruments (micrometers, tape measures, dial calipers).
  • Precision machinery (drill press, mill, and bench lathes).
  • Hand tools (drills, wrenches, grinders).
  • Material handling equipment (forklifts, cranes, overhead hoists).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

AAS Degree or equivalent experience, with at least two (2) years of specialized PLC training and over ten (10) years of experience in a manufacturing setting. Familiarity with PC-based data collection methods and the Microsoft Windows operating environment is essential. A solid understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems/components is required.

Electromechanical skills, proficiency in PLC and computer controls, with the ability to program, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, mechanical, and fluid power breakdowns on manufacturing and facility equipment.

Basic computer experience with PC-based data collection methods and the Microsoft Windows operating environment.

Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Fundamental mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic skills. Understanding of preventive maintenance processes. Ability to operate machinery and hand tools relevant to a manufacturing environment. Capability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues and take initiative to resolve or seek assistance. Proficiency in assembling and disassembling equipment. Ability to read and adhere to equipment manufacturer's specifications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position is performed in a combination office/shop environment. Occasional overnight travel, weekend and holiday work, and being on-call may be required. Employees may be exposed to mechanical or chemical processes necessitating the use of personal protective equipment. The role may involve lifting up to 60 pounds and exposure to controlled air conditions with frequent air changes.
