Job Overview

Position Summary:

ISI Professional Services is seeking a skilled Building Controls Automation Engineer (BCAE) with a strong background in the construction sector to deliver Owner's Representative construction management solutions for a Department of Defense (DoD) client. The BCAE will play a pivotal role in overseeing more than $300 million in ongoing construction initiatives, which vary in scale and complexity. This position demands a comprehensive range of electrical engineering skills and construction management support to assist the DoD client effectively. Collaboration with senior government project managers and contractor project managers is essential, as is the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. We are looking for a proactive individual who communicates clearly, takes initiative, and embraces project ownership.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Independently gather requirements and data from project managers, ensuring timely and professional submissions.
  2. Provide expertise in direct digital control systems, building automation, computerized control systems, Building Automation Systems, Lighting Controls, HVAC Controls, Sensors, Meters, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Supervisory Control, transformers, switchgears, HVAC system design, and construction and repair methodologies.
  3. Collaborate with Project Managers to establish and monitor the progress of milestones and Government activities, ensuring the timely execution of the Government construction program.
  4. Prepare project status presentations, develop and maintain performance metrics, and produce comprehensive technical reports. Deliver written and oral updates to Government leadership and program managers.
  5. Create inspection checklists for code compliance inspections and monitor construction activities to identify significant deviations from design documents, codes, or industry standards, ensuring adherence to approved designs and regulations.
  6. Conduct Quality Control reviews and provide engineering support to guarantee compliance with standards. Perform site observations and inspections to verify that as-built drawings accurately reflect field changes.
  7. Address Government and Contractor deficiencies, providing weekly updates on reconciliation and resolution.
  8. Document compliance tests and identify non-compliance issues, citing relevant codes.
  9. Conduct Quality Assurance inspections and participate in outages to assess installation and design quality, maintaining a log of deficiencies and ensuring corrective actions are implemented by the contractor.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Pentagon WHS is highly desirable.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of construction experience OR a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with at least 15 years of relevant operational experience and a pertinent certification.
  2. Must be a U.S. Citizen with a secret clearance.
