Job Title: Advanced Vocational Nurse

We are seeking a skilled Advanced Vocational Nurse to join our team at Central Counties Center For Mental, a leading provider of mental health services. In this role, you will provide high-quality patient care, work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team, and contribute to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide advanced nursing care to patients, including pharmacological management, EKGs, medication training, and monitoring of vital signs.
  • Plan, assign, and supervise the work of others, as well as train and develop staff members.
  • Support prescribing staff and attend to all nursing services associated with the provision of telemedicine services.
  • Responsible for patient record reviews, including medication consents and all forms as specified by Texas Administrative Codes (TAC).
  • Administer medication orally and by injection, according to prescribing staff orders.
  • Clearly communicate, both verbally and in writing, consumer needs to the appropriate interdisciplinary team member.
  • Perform mental and physical nursing assessments as required, and report findings to prescribers.
  • Follow all proper precautions as required for infection control, and provide consultation for Quality Management, as needed.
  • Implement nursing interventions and consult with the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality care for all clients.
  • Perform EKGs and document the results and report the results accurately to prescribing staff.
  • Collect specimens, including blood, breath, and urine for laboratory screenings. Reviews and documents results. Reports findings to prescriber and carries out any needed interventions as ordered by prescribing staff.
  • Accurately measure and record vital signs, including height, weight, body mass index, pulse, blood pressure, and temperature.
Requirements:
  • One year or more experience in nursing work and nursing experience working with mental health clients preferred.
  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent required, and graduation from an approved vocational or practical nursing education program is preferred.
  • Must be licensed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse by the State of Texas or in a party state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and proficiency of nursing procedures and techniques and of the principles and processes used in providing appropriate patient care.
  • Skill in using reasoning to identify problems, in considering appropriate resolution of situations, and in the operation of computers and applicable computer software.
  • Ability and competency to provide patient medical care; to prepare and maintain records; and to train others required.
Benefits:
  • Minimum Starting Hourly Rate: $23.81/hr
  • Maximum Starting Hourly Rate - Dependent on Qualifications
