The Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in supporting the Chief Financial Officer in overseeing the accounting operations of Clay County Utility Authority (CCUA). This includes managing costs, payables, and financial reporting to ensure precision and adherence to applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities1. Supervision of Financial Team: Direct and manage the daily activities of the Financial Assistant – Accounts Payable and other financial staff.
2. Budget Development: Collaborate with department leaders and senior management to formulate annual budgets and financial forecasts that align with strategic objectives.
3. Financial Reporting: Prepare and supervise the creation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring they meet accounting standards.
4. Account Reconciliation: Oversee reconciliations for banking, investments, general ledger, revenues, and expenses to guarantee accurate transaction recording.
5. Financial Analysis: Conduct ongoing financial analyses to detect trends, variances, and potential improvements, providing management with actionable insights.
6. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards, staying informed about changes and implementing necessary updates.
7. Audit Coordination: Facilitate the annual audit process by preparing work papers, schedules, and financial statements as required by auditors.
8. Fixed Asset Management: Record transactions related to fixed asset additions and disposals, ensuring reconciliation with balance sheet accounts.
9. Team Development: Monitor performance, recruit, train, and mentor team members, providing support to ensure accurate handling of financial transactions.
10. Support for CFO: Assist the CFO with various tasks and projects as needed.
