Job Summary

Hunter Douglas, Inc. is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Technician I to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment in our textile production process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain high-speed winding and warping machines, coating and gluing machines, and laminators.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, making adjustments as needed to ensure optimal performance.
  • Load and unload yarns, beams, and finished rolls, ensuring accurate and efficient production.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance duties, including splicing and changing out belts, tension adjustments, and cleaning of Teflon-coated machine belts and rollers.
  • Conduct basic laboratory testing duties, including cutting samples, measuring glue weights, and preparing samples for R&D lab tests.
  • Collaborate with R&D technicians and engineers to discuss results and implement problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; previous manufacturing and/or fabrication experience highly desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of report writing and documentation procedures, computer use, and applications such as Word and Excel.
  • Solid knowledge of fabric qualities and composition changes, set-ups and operation of mechanical equipment, machine mechanics, and workplace and mechanical equipment safety standards.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships, read and comprehend written and verbal work instructions, and use creative problem-solving to resolve equipment malfunctions.

Working Conditions

This position requires regular and predictable attendance, with the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safety. The employee will be required to stand for extended periods, walk, bend, and stoop while monitoring equipment.
