We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacist to join our team as a Medical Safety Clinical Specialist in our Inpatient department. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of medications in our specialized areas, such as nuclear medicine, oncology, and cardiology.
Responsibilities- Assure the appropriate selection, dosing, administering, and dispensing of medication orders in specialized areas.
- Provide guidance and support to clinical leadership and pharmacy staff on medication safety and quality initiatives.
- Review and assess medication orders to identify, prevent, and resolve potential and actual drug-related problems.
- Recommend formulary alternatives when appropriate and compound and dispense medications for accurate delivery to patients.
- Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients, and communicate with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care.
- Oversee technical personnel who assist in the preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications and supplies.
- Assist with academic functions such as serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students and may float to provide coverage of pharmacy needs.
- Pharmacist credentialed from the Maryland Board of Pharmacy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy required.
- At least 3 years of experience in the area of medication safety specialty practice with familiarity of Institutional Pharmacy services, and medication safety regulatory and legal requirements.
- Working knowledge of Pyxis/Pyxis ES, Sentri 7, Meditech with sterile compounding, antimicrobial stewardship, and pharmacokinetic dosing experience.
