**Job Summary:**
As a Clinical Pharmacist-Emergency Department Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications in the emergency department. Your expertise will be invaluable in providing pharmaceutical care to patients, collaborating with the healthcare team, and promoting a culture of excellence and patient-centered care.
**Responsibilities:**
• Assure the appropriate selection, dosing, administering, and dispensing of medication orders to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
• Review and assess medication orders to identify, prevent, and resolve potential and actual drug-related problems.
• Recommend formulary alternatives when appropriate to optimize patient care and promote cost-effective use of resources.
• Compound and dispense medication for accurate delivery to patients, ensuring timely and efficient pharmaceutical services.
• Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients, promoting a culture of informed decision-making and patient empowerment.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and other clinicians to facilitate care and ensure seamless transitions of patient care.
• Oversee technical personnel who assist in the preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications and supplies, promoting a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
• Assist with academic functions, such as serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students, to foster the development of future healthcare leaders.
• May float to provide coverage of pharmacy needs, ensuring the continuity of care and patient satisfaction.
• Provide patient counseling efficiently and effectively when required, promoting patient adherence and outcomes.
**Requirements:**
• Licensure/Certification/Registration: Pharmacist credentialed from the Maryland Board of Pharmacy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Education: Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy required.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
• Completion of a PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency (or equivalent experience)
• 3 years of experience in area of emergency medicine specialty practice with familiarity of Institutional Pharmacy services, and the management of Pharmacokinetic services in an Acute Care institution.
• Successful completion of PGY-2 in EMERGENCY MEDICINE or CRITICAL CARE
• Board Certified Emergency Medicine Pharmacy (BCEMP), Board Certified Critical Care Pharmacy (BCCCP), or Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) certification
**Compensation and Benefits:**
