We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Correctional Officer to join our team at Wright County AG. As a Correctional Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of our facility, ensuring the well-being of our residents, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
About the Role
This is a full-time position working all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The starting wage is $31.00 per hour, and the estimated annual salary range is $64,680 - $79,900, based on a 40-hour workweek. The estimated salary includes a competitive benefits package, including health, dental, and life insurance, as well as a retirement plan.
Responsibilities
As a Correctional Officer, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Conducting booking, receiving, and processing of inmates, ensuring accurate and efficient processing.
- Performing inmate release activities, adhering to strict protocols and procedures.
- Supervising inmate activities and movement, maintaining a high level of situational awareness and responding to potential security risks.
- Maintaining overall facility security, monitoring, conducting checks, operating security control equipment, and responding to emergencies.
- Preparing and maintaining electronic and paper records, including daily logs, medical services, and bail bond records.
- Responding to emergency situations, such as fights, medical situations, and fire alarms, and directing inmates, visitors, and staff accordingly.
- Administering jail visitor procedures, assisting the public, and identifying, searching, and running warrant checks on inmate visitors.
- Providing training to new Correctional Officers and performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must possess:
- Associates/Technical degree or two years of full-time work experience in a related field, such as security, military service, or social/community service.
- Ability to pass medical evaluation, physical assessment screening, psychological evaluation, and background investigation.
- Completion of the FTO Program within six months of employment, including First Aid/CPR certification.
- A valid driver's license or equivalent mobility.
- Knowledge of corrections field procedures and practices, local, State, and Federal laws, and Department policies and regulations.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, use standard office equipment, and communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently, handle stressful situations, and maintain confidentiality.
- Physical ability to perform job duties, including frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force.
