Join Form Energy's Team as a Staff Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Mechanical Engineer to join our Test Infrastructure team at Form Energy. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing test hardware for our Battery Modules, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

Your primary focus will be on developing and deploying novel, state-of-the-art test equipment, contributing to the hardware and software development of our test capabilities, and supporting our operations team in keeping our tests online.

We are looking for a talented mechanical engineer with a strong background in test systems development, who can thrive in a fast-paced startup environment and contribute to our mission of delivering energy storage for a better world.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop test hardware for Battery Modules, ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and deploy custom liquid-handling, electromechanical, and electrical systems
  • Contribute to the mechanical and electrical design of battery test stands, including power distribution design, harnessing, safety, and interlocks
  • Develop and implement automated test equipment in a medium- to high-volume environment
  • Work closely with leadership to assess solutions and their impact on cross-functional activities
Requirements:
  • BS (MS preferred) degree in Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent degree/experience
  • Experience leading technical work, coordinating resources, and ensuring tasks are adequately prioritized and supported
  • System-level approach and understanding of test systems
  • Ability to identify gaps and work with leadership to assess solutions and their impact on cross-functional activities
  • Familiarity with mCAD and eCAD packages, data acquisition systems, and PLCs/HMIs
