About the Role:

The Sterile Processing Technician at Baystate Health plays a vital role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by preparing and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Decontaminate and sterilize medical instruments and equipment according to manufacturer's instructions and hospital protocols.
  • Inspect and assemble instrument kits, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Operate steam, ethylene oxide, and low-temperature gas plasma sterilizers, adhering to strict parameters and documentation requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, prioritizing workflow and interacting with healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in quality checks, including biological and chemical monitoring of sterilization processes and review of processing records.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in sterile processing or a perioperative environment preferred.
  • Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSP) certification a plus.
