Job Summary

The Phlebotomist - Rounds Team is a critical member of our healthcare team, responsible for the collection, handling, and transport of blood specimens for inpatient units and community settings. This role requires a high level of specimen collection during peak times, ensuring timely and accurate results.

Responsibilities
  • Collect blood specimens from patients in various settings, including inpatient units and community locations.
  • Handle and transport specimens to the laboratory for processing.
  • Work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines to ensure seamless specimen collection and processing.
  • Provide excellent customer service skills, interacting with patients and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills, and age.
  • Communicate effectively with peers and other departments to ensure accurate and timely results.
  • Maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information and adhere to strict protocols for specimen handling and storage.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED with education in Phlebotomy required.
  • Phlebotomy certification required.
  • Three to six months experience as a Phlebotomist.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Ability to work independently and identify tasks that need to be completed.
  • Knowledge of Medical terminology preferred.
