Key Responsibilities

Leads a highly skilled team that delivers air traffic control services and/or tactical and strategic support. The role significantly influences the operational efficiency and effectiveness of daily facility activities. This position is crucial for ensuring the safe, orderly, and efficient movement of aircraft, as well as the smooth functioning of various segments of the aviation sector.

Provides mentorship, training, and support to team members while fostering a collaborative environment across designated areas.

Aligns support resources with operational demands to sustain effective air traffic control services, potentially working outside of standard administrative hours to fulfill this requirement. Regularly evaluates work processes using performance metrics to ensure alignment with the agency's mission and customer satisfaction, while enhancing the value of facility services.

Delegates and assesses tasks. Organizes work, establishes priorities, and develops schedules. Approves leave requests; formulates work completion timelines; assigns responsibilities based on priority; evaluates subordinate performance to ensure fairness in standards and assessments; provides guidance on work-related and administrative issues; identifies and arranges necessary training for team members. Addresses work-related challenges presented by staff; resolves team grievances and significant employee concerns; implements disciplinary measures; recommends and approves hiring and transfers; endorses awards. Engages with labor representatives on workforce matters. Adjusts staffing and operational procedures in response to higher-level resource decisions. Contributes to achieving facility objectives and goals as part of the management team aimed at enhancing organizational performance.

Promotes and reinforces diversity and EEO policies in all aspects of responsibility, including recruitment, training, and transfers. Engages in labor-management partnerships and cultivates a workplace culture where all employees are treated equitably and respectfully.

Maintains frequent communication with both internal and external stakeholders, including team members, peer management, union representatives, administrative support personnel, senior management, and aviation industry representatives.

The Support Manager reports directly to the Air Traffic Manager. Performance is assessed based on the successful achievement of assigned program objectives.

Qualifications

Employment Conditions
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Submission of an SF50 is required.
  • Submission of the first page of FAA Form is required.
  • A one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be necessary.
Required Qualifications

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

1. Have held an FAA 2152 FV-J/FG-14 or higher position at the regional or headquarters level for a minimum of 1 year (52 weeks);

OR

2. Have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility; (Note: Employees who have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year in an upgraded ATS facility are considered to meet the qualification requirements for the upgraded position, as they have been performing higher-graded work);

OR

3. Have held a MSS position or higher for at least 1 year in an ATS facility.

4. Additionally, candidates must have held an MSS-2 position or an FG or higher regional or headquarters position for at least 1 year.

Additional Information

This vacancy may be utilized to fill other similar positions. The selected candidate may be subject to a background investigation. A one-year probationary period may be required.

The individual chosen for this role may need to file a financial disclosure statement within 30 days of starting. FAA policy restricts certain outside employment and financial investments in aviation-related companies.
