Job Summary

The United States Capitol Police (USCP) is seeking highly skilled and dedicated individuals to fill the role of Special Agent. As a Special Agent, you will play a critical part in safeguarding the U.S. Congress, its members, employees, visitors, and facilities from crime, disruption, or terrorism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct investigations and gather evidence to support the USCP's mission
  • Provide security and protection services to Congress and its facilities
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to share intelligence and best practices
  • Participate in training and professional development to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and technologies
Requirements
  • Must have completed the FLETC Criminal Investigator Training Program (CITP) or USCP Basic Agent Training Program (BATP) or equivalent training program from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), or U.S. Postal Inspection Service
  • Must possess a minimum of five (5) years of experience in an 1811 series at time of application
  • Must be a United States citizen
  • Must meet position age requirements
  • High School diploma or GED certificate is required
  • Must possess and maintain a valid U.S. driver's license
  • Must show evidence of responsible driving in the last one year
  • Male applicants must be registered for Selective Service
Hiring Process

The hiring process for Special Agent consists of several phases, including an Initial Assessment Phase, Examination Phase, and Background Investigation. Candidates who progress through these phases will be required to undergo a full background investigation, polygraph examination, and medical assessment.

Additional requirements include successfully completing all required training and a probationary period. The USCP is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from diverse candidates.
