Position Overview

In the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will be responsible for managing the daily administrative and operational activities of the organization. Reporting directly to the President, you will work closely with the Vice-President, Director of Operations, General Counsel, Chief Financial Officer, Human Resources Manager, and other key personnel to enhance productivity, establish key performance indicators (KPIs), improve efficiencies, set strategic objectives, and develop best practice Short Interval Programs (SIPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to boost profitability and drive growth.

Core Competencies

Strategic Leadership

  • Collaborate with the executive team to formulate and execute strategic initiatives for organizational growth.
  • Engage and manage consultants for specialized projects, including project management and strategic planning.
  • Work alongside the President and Vice-President to promote and implement the company’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Develop actionable and measurable business KPIs, SIPs, and SOPs to align with industry standards and strategic goals.
  • Recruit and unify employees across various departments to foster a positive team culture and enhance operational efficiency.

Financial Management

  • Analyze job performance metrics and report findings.
  • Evaluate current revenue streams and make recommendations for enhancements to stimulate business growth.
  • Review financial models with senior management to support operational strategies.
  • Assist in developing annual project and operational budgets.
  • Monitor project P&Ls to identify issues early and implement corrective measures.
  • Foster relationships with vendors, customers, and industry professionals to enhance collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role, ideally as a COO or in a similar capacity.
  • Experience in the electrical contracting or related sectors is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of technology's role in business operations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with senior executives and team members.
  • Proven ability to drive operational efficiency and improve productivity.
  • Strong project management and planning capabilities.

Educational and Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in engineering or construction.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures.
