Admissions Coordination Specialist

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Admissions Coordinator to join our team at Select Specialty Hospital. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth admission process for patients, working closely with various departments to prepare for their arrival.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where no two days are ever the same. As an Admissions Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing referral intake, verifying patient information, and communicating with various stakeholders to facilitate the admission process.
Responsibilities- Lead Conversion Calls with the Business Development team each morning to discuss ongoing referrals and new business opportunities.
- Verify Medicare benefits and secondary/supplemental insurance plans of all referred patients to ensure accurate and timely processing of admissions.
- Enter accurate referral, admission, denial, and/or conversion data into various online programs and databases to maintain up-to-date records.
- Evaluate and address any deficiencies that may impact the hospital's financial viability, ensuring all necessary steps are taken to prevent holds and maintain optimal performance.
- Communicate relevant data to clinical liaisons, case managers, prior authorization team, and physicians to facilitate seamless preparation for patient admissions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact on the day of admissions to guarantee that all necessary equipment, medication, and supplies are present in the patient's room.
- Physically admit patients, provide facility tours, and obtain signed consent to treat forms and file documents.
- Prior experience in a hospital, physician practice, or insurance environment, with a strong understanding of medical terminology.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
- Direct experience in third-party insurance verification and knowledge of how Medicare benefits are applied.
- Previous experience as a customer service representative for a health insurance company or provider.
- Knowledge of prior authorization processes and procedures.
