POSITION OVERVIEW

The Critical Care Neuro Nurse plays a vital role in the independent assessment, execution, and evaluation of nursing care in complex patient scenarios, adhering to established standards of care, policies, and procedures. This position entails delivering direct nursing services to patients, taking on educational and leadership roles, and engaging in collaborative governance, unit committees, and initiatives aimed at quality enhancement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Formulates a comprehensive care plan with strategies to achieve desired health outcomes.
  • Executes care interventions and medical directives as necessary.
  • Coordinates the delivery of care and employs patient education to foster health and safety.
  • Assesses progress towards health outcomes and practices with ethical integrity.
  • Maintains knowledge and skills that reflect contemporary nursing practices.
  • Incorporates evidence-based research findings into clinical practice.
  • Contributes to the advancement of quality nursing practices and collaborative governance.
  • Communicates proficiently across all areas of practice and demonstrates leadership within the professional environment.
  • Utilizes appropriate resources to plan and deliver nursing services that are safe, effective, and financially prudent.
  • Conducts thorough physical assessments and integrates findings with electronic medical records to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
  • Exhibits proficiency in complex monitoring specific to the patient population and upholds critical care competencies.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary rounds to enhance patient care.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must possess a valid Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the State of Florida, with at least one year of experience in critical care settings. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is highly preferred. Certification in the relevant specialty is also strongly preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory from recognized organizations. Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification is required from accredited providers. All candidates are expected to complete Emergency Neurological Life Support (ENLS) education within the first year of employment and maintain certification thereafter.
