Role Overview
The Registered Nurse in Preoperative and PACU care plays a crucial role in delivering superior patient care by utilizing the nursing process, adhering to medical protocols, and following organizational guidelines. This position is responsible for ensuring safe, effective, and patient-centered care throughout the perioperative experience for diverse patient populations. The RN will report directly to the Manager of Peri-operative Services.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care in the Preoperative and PACU settings.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Monitor patient conditions and respond to changes in their status effectively.
- Educate patients and their families about surgical procedures and post-operative care.
- Maintain a safe and sterile environment in accordance with established protocols.
Qualifications
- Must possess a valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the state.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
- A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in Preoperative and PACU nursing is preferred.
- Experience in an ambulatory surgical center is highly desirable.
- Current certifications in BLS and ACLS are mandatory.
- Strong understanding of surgical procedures and the management of surgical patients.
- Proficient in aseptic techniques and their application.
- Ability to adapt swiftly to changing patient conditions.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members, patients, and physicians.
