Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Records Coder to join our team at Methodist Health System. As a Medical Records Coder, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of patient data, which will be used to inform clinical decisions and improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Classify and abstract inpatient and outpatient diagnoses and procedures using ICD10-CM, ICD10 PCS, and CPT codes
  • Establish and maintain accurate databases for case mix indices, providing statistical reporting and trend analysis
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality care for patients
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, healthcare workers, and other stakeholders
  • Stay up-to-date with coding guidelines and regulations
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of DRG-based coding experience in an acute care hospital
  • Proficient in detailed work and able to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Team-oriented and able to work collaboratively
