Job Title: Director of Clinical Skills Education

Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as the Director of Clinical Skills Education. This is a key leadership position that will play a critical role in the development and implementation of clinical skills training for our DVM students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, develop, and execute clinical skills training in the DVM curriculum in coordination with faculty and staff.
  • Develop and manage assessment for clinical skill activities.
  • Manage clinical skills facilities, including the Clinical Skills Lab and college teaching barn.
  • Coordinate access to practice opportunities for students.
  • Develop and manage end-of-year OSCEs for years 1, 2, and 3 in the DVM curriculum.
  • Contribute to the Surgery and Anesthesia course.
  • Lead clinical skills and OSCE remediation.
  • Provide support to 4th year students, interns, and residents as needed.
  • Manage stations in and access to the Open Access skills lab for all years.
  • Lead a support team of veterinarians, veterinary nurses, and veterinary assistants.
Requirements:
  • DVM or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum three years' experience in general practice.
  • Experience/training in clinical teaching.
  • Experience managing budgets.
  • Experience managing and mentoring staff.
  • Experience managing facilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum five years' experience in mixed-animal practice.
  • Master in Education or similar discipline.
  • Project Management training and/or certification.
