Job Title: IT Systems Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Systems Specialist to join our team at Charleston County, SC. As an IT Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and managing custom computer systems and databases for our office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement custom computer applications and reports using object-oriented programming languages and SQL.
  • Analyze business processes and workflows to create automated systems.
  • Assess departmental computer needs and make recommendations.
  • Coordinate training requests and provide user support for software applications and network problems.
  • Develop and maintain relational databases and custom reports.
  • Install, maintain, update, repair, and back up departmental computer systems.
  • Prepare statistical reports, data analysis charts, and graphs, and income analysis spreadsheets.
  • Provide technical support for hardware and software issues.
  • Oversee the imaging of documents and maintain database integrity.
  • Develop and evaluate custom computer software and purchased software for suitability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of existing automated and manual systems.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or related field.
  • 3 or more years of experience in computer programming, troubleshooting, and/or training.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Information Systems Management, Microsoft Windows operating systems, database programs, and desktop and mobile computing platforms.
  • Thorough knowledge of object-oriented programming languages, SQL, relational database design, and County policies and procedures.
  • Skilled in communicating effectively with others, both orally and in writing, using technical and non-technical language.
  • Able to work independently or with others to accomplish a common goal, train others on technical information, prioritize multiple activities, and stay abreast of the latest technology in the computer industry.
