About the Rehabilitation Institute: The DMC Rehabilitation Institute is recognized nationally for its excellence in rehabilitation medicine and research. Our facility specializes in a wide range of rehabilitation services, including spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke recovery, amputee care, orthopedics, and complex injury management. We operate multiple outpatient clinics throughout the region, focusing on sports medicine and orthopedic rehabilitation.

Job Duties:

Under general supervision and in accordance with established protocols, the Rehabilitation Therapist will:

  • Assess patients' motor and neurological functions, documenting all findings accurately. Implement standard rehabilitation techniques including heat, cold, electrical stimulation, traction, ultrasound, and exercise.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of patient treatments, initial evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in line with departmental standards.
  • Design home care programs for patients and provide guidance to families during hospital stays and post-discharge.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to discuss patient progress and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
  • Supervise and mentor physical therapy assistants, aides, students, and volunteers as needed. Ensure the upkeep of equipment and supplies in treatment areas.
  • Engage in continuous professional development through workshops, lectures, and departmental meetings to stay updated on the latest treatment methodologies.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of programs that promote an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy or equivalent certification from an accredited program.

2. A minimum of three years of clinical experience to develop independent treatment skills.

3. Valid license to practice as a Physical Therapist in the state of Michigan.

4. At least 60 points in professional growth and development criteria.
