Position Summary

As the Lead Software Engineer - Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the performance, availability, and efficiency of our platforms. Your expertise will be vital in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems, as well as optimizing code and automating processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the reliability and technical operations of the FreeWheel TV Platform Ad-Serving components.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance the reliability, quality, and efficiency of FreeWheel platforms.
  • Engage in complex analytical tasks related to the planning, deployment, testing, and evaluation of FreeWheel products.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of FreeWheel platforms, infrastructure, and internal processes.
  • Support high-profile live events powered by FreeWheel.
  • Collaborate with developers and technical leads throughout the software release cycle to ensure successful implementations.
  • Lead the design and execution of infrastructure as code, adhering to best practices and quality standards.
  • Dedicate approximately 30% of your time to developing tools using Python or Golang for Continuous Delivery and Infrastructure Scaling.
  • Implement technical solutions for infrastructure and application management with a focus on standardization and automation.
  • Utilize engineering methodologies to address specific technical challenges.
  • Conduct code-level debugging for escalated issues.
  • Manage on-call shifts and lead incident response efforts.
  • Promote engineering best practices and operational procedures.
  • Partner with developers and vendors to enhance production quality and operational efficiency.
  • Support cybersecurity initiatives, including vulnerability management and secure server configurations.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior SRE team members.
  • Exercise independent judgment in significant matters.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and be available for variable schedules, including nights and weekends.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years of software engineering experience with proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Golang, or JavaScript.
  • At least 5 years of experience in technical operations for critical applications in public cloud environments, preferably AWS.
  • Experience with SDLC tools, including Containers, Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD tools.
  • Proficient in Linux administration and network security.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across teams and regions.
  • Availability to work Eastern Standard hours and participate in on-call rotations.

  • Experience supporting critical services prior to launch through system design and capacity planning.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership in specific product areas.
  • Prior experience providing technical solutions in an internet-focused organization.

Salary Information

National Pay Range: $112,151.21 USD - $262,854.41 USD. Compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
