Job Summary

STV Incorporated is seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineering Specialist to join our Rail Team in our Chicago office. The ideal candidate will have experience in the inspection, design, and construction of rail, track, and culverts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in various planning, design, and construction projects.
  • Perform field inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Assist in developing technical design reports, calculations, and memos.
  • Use software to design structural elements such as bridges and retaining walls.
  • Develop construction documents, including technical drawings and specifications.
  • Participate in meetings with clients and stakeholders to discuss project progress and requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of structural engineering fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with civil and structural design software.
  • Strong desire to work with clients, public stakeholders, and fellow team members.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Experience using MicroStation, OpenRail, OpenRoads, and/or AutoCAD Civil3D.
  • Construction site experience.
  • Previous experience with freight and passenger railroad design and engineering.
