Job Title: Project Engineer

The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) Geospace group is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the development, preparation, and maintenance of project planning, ensuring the successful execution of complex engineering and scientific experiments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and track existing systems
  • Forecast and plan for the development of new systems
  • Work closely with other engineers and scientists to plan and schedule deployments and experiments
  • Coordinate specifications for the purchase of goods and services
  • Identify and implement process improvements
  • Interface with Design, Manufacturing, and Test Engineering to improve design and procedures
  • Interface with subcontractors and customers to resolve quality problems
  • Understand and address customer analytical needs and issues, usually by direct interface
  • Frequent customer communication and interaction
  • Work with program personnel to define, assess, and analyze mission requirements and identifies impacts to the customer
Required Qualifications:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
  • Knowledge of ionospheric instrumentation
  • Ability to communicate clearly both written and verbally
  • Ability to make decisions in a timely manner, often under tight and changing deadlines
Desired Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with atmospheric or ionospheric measurement techniques
  • Experience with building and testing instrument hardware
  • Experience with planning and deploying sensors
  • Experience coordinating with engineers and scientists to plan and schedule experiments
  • Knowledge of project management tools (e.g., Confluence, Jira)
