As a Field Service Technician specializing in generator systems, your primary responsibilities will include the maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel and gaseous generator sets and related equipment, following established factory and company protocols.

Compensation: Competitive hourly wage based on skills and experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of generator systems to assess their condition through diagnostic tests.
  • Identify and rectify issues within electrical and mechanical systems, including performing load bank tests and calculating power requirements.
  • Execute tune-ups and repairs as identified during diagnostic evaluations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair AC and DC control systems, including engine controllers and automatic voltage regulators.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on diesel and gaseous engines.
  • Implement modifications to new power generation equipment as needed.
  • Conduct engine rebuilds and load tests on batteries, ensuring charging systems are operational.
  • Document service and repair activities accurately to maintain comprehensive records.
  • Ensure company tools and equipment are maintained according to operational guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Fundamental knowledge of AC and DC systems and their operational practices.
  • Familiarity with generator systems, including diesel and gaseous engines.
  • Understanding of transfer switches and switchgear operations.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and operate diagnostic software.
  • Strong customer service skills, with effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Office, email, etc.).

Experience and Education:

  • Preferred: Associate's Degree from a technical school.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the power generation industry.

Additional Requirements:

  • Possess and maintain a personal tool inventory suitable for the role.
  • Valid driver's license and insurability under company policy.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, including potential extended stays at remote job sites.
  • Ability to work overtime as required by business needs.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Capability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in various environments and under pressure.
