Our Mission: Our dedicated team of seventy staff members, along with countless volunteers, delivers not just meals but also hope to those in need across the District of Columbia and surrounding areas.

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Chef to create a diverse range of soups, salads, and main dishes for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute a daily preparation list to efficiently prepare and package food items for clients.
  • Engage in large-scale cooking and preparation of various dishes, including soups, salads, entrees, and occasional baked goods.
  • Implement and maintain safety and sanitation protocols in the kitchen.
  • Contribute to menu development and recipe creation.
  • Assist with food storage and inventory management.
  • Foster a welcoming and appreciative atmosphere for a diverse group of volunteers.

Work Schedule: The work schedule is Monday through Thursday from 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM and Friday from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with occasional weekend and holiday shifts.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess at least two years of professional cooking experience in a high-volume kitchen and hold food safety certification. Additional qualifications include:

  • Advanced knowledge of large batch cooking techniques.
  • Familiarity with MS Word and Excel.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • A willingness to collaborate with volunteers.
  • Strong communication abilities and an appreciation for diversity.

Physical Requirements: Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and maintain physical mobility, including grasping, stirring, stooping, walking, pushing, and standing for extended periods while ensuring proper balance.

Compensation: This position offers an hourly wage of $28.85.
