Job Title: Research Nurse Practitioner

Guidehouse is seeking a highly skilled Research Nurse Practitioner to join our team. As a Research Nurse Practitioner, you will play a critical role in supporting the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Obtain informed consent and maintain documentation for adult and pediatric dermatology subjects on research protocols.
  • Screen subjects for entry onto research protocols and determine eligibility based on thorough interviews and medical records.
  • Conduct medical histories, physical examinations, and place medical orders, reviewing laboratory results for normal and abnormal findings.
  • Create timelines and calendars for protocol-related requirements, input orders for individual subjects, and schedule visits in collaboration with team members.
  • Collect clinical and research biospecimens using invasive and non-invasive procedures, following standardized protocols.
  • Track protocol-related study data, transcribe into case report forms, and communicate findings to appropriate personnel.
  • Monitor and document subjects' response to therapy, grade adverse events, and communicate findings to relevant personnel.
  • Contribute to the analysis of study data and participate in publishing findings.
  • Recruit healthy subjects and patients, interview them to obtain social, medical, and medication history, and perform in-depth medical assessments.
  • Analyze trends in patient conditions, identify problems, and alter treatment regimens as necessary.
  • Review patients' charts to collect relevant clinical data, alter treatment regimens, and order additional diagnostic tests.
  • Analyze recurring trends to inform new protocols or modifications of existing ones.
  • Provide comprehensive patient management services, including writing admission, transfer, and discharge orders, and documenting through progress notes and dictation summaries.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions, perform emergency management procedures, and initiate emergency measures as necessary.
  • Respond to inquiries from referring physicians, private hospital staff, and patients regarding diagnosis and eligibility for research protocols.
  • Maintain contact with patients and referring physicians to explain patient conditions and symptoms, interpret laboratory test results, and discuss future status.
  • Follow up on patients throughout study to schedule tests, follow-up exams, and admissions.
  • Present data at clinical staff meetings and evaluate, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients seen in Dermatology consultation.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree with completion of Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Minimum of six years of experience in the healthcare professional field.
  • Current National Board Certification and license to practice in the Advanced Practice Nurse role.
  • Extensive NP experience in managing complex medical issues.
  • Ability to evaluate pediatric and adult patients.
  • Current certification in BLS required.
  • Ability to write comprehensive clinical notes.
  • Outstanding analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
