About the Role

Plasser American Corp is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer III to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for designing and developing layouts for mechanical systems, working closely with design engineers to identify areas for improvement, and analyzing product or equipment specifications to determine designs that can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop layouts for mechanical systems
  • Work with design engineers to identify areas for improvement
  • Analyze product or equipment specifications to determine designs that can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures used in the field of mechanical equipment
  • Collaborate with design engineering personnel to prepare design modifications as required
  • Prepare sketches for mechanical drafters to produce sub-assemblies or finished details
Requirements
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with a strong emphasis on mechanical design
  • 5-8 years of experience in the field of heavy equipment machinery design
  • Proficient knowledge in the following areas: mechanical design, ISO and ANSI standards, metric system, geometric dimensioning and tolerance, weldments, and machining operations
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Motivated and self-starter with the ability to work under deadlines
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as calculus and modern algebra
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
