Qualifications:
  1. Valid New Jersey P-3 certification and/or eligibility for special area certification.
  2. Proven understanding of effective educational strategies and age-appropriate classroom activities.
  3. Ability to foster a constructive learning atmosphere.
  4. Proficiency in digital tools is essential.
  5. Committed to enhancing the educational experiences of young learners through a nurturing environment and the application of suitable materials and methodologies.
  6. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  7. Completion of a criminal history background check and verification of U.S. citizenship or legal residency, along with a comprehensive physical examination.
Supervises:
Students, and when designated, student teachers and classroom aides.

Job Goal:
To deliver high-quality, engaging, safe, and developmentally suitable educational experiences for both special education and general education students. Educators are responsible for crafting and executing lessons that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth. They will utilize state-approved curriculum resources tailored for children aged three to five within a structured classroom setting. Additionally, they will create and align instructional strategies, learning activities, and assessments based on best practices and current research in early childhood education. Educators will also be responsible for developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans for preschool students with disabilities in collaboration with the Child Study Team.

Performance Responsibilities:
Committed to enriching the educational journeys of young children through a supportive learning environment and the use of appropriate materials and practices.
  1. Encourages active learning through both structured and unstructured activities that promote the social, physical, cognitive, and emotional development of young learners.
  2. Implements the approved curriculum and utilizes suitable learning activities tailored to each child's developmental stage, striving to meet district educational objectives and state core curriculum standards.
  3. Designs lesson plans and instructional resources, providing individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of each student, balancing teacher-led and child-initiated experiences.
  4. Creates and employs age-appropriate assessment tools, maintaining records of student development and educational progress for reporting purposes.
  5. Identifies student needs and collaborates with other professionals (such as occupational and physical therapists, speech therapists, and the child study team) to address and resolve learning challenges.
  6. Engages with parents through conferences and other communication methods to inform them about the educational program and discuss student progress.
  7. Contributes to the development of the district's special education plan.
  8. Maintains professional growth and competence through ongoing education and professional development activities.
  9. Participates in school-level planning, faculty meetings, committees, and other school system initiatives.
  10. Upholds and enforces school policies, administrative regulations, and board directives.
  11. Performs additional duties within the scope of employment and certification as assigned.
Terms of Employment:
Salary and work year to be determined in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
